As we are all aware, 2020 has seen the global spread and impact of COVID19.
On Friday 20th March 2020, all schools and universities across Uganda were closed, following instruction from H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni; President of the Republic of Uganda. This was a preventative measure to ensure the safety of all staff and students before the virus found its way into Uganda's educational system, where almost 15-million students attend each day.
Our in-country coordinators have maintained contact with Young Seeds students and their support families since this time, in order to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our sponsor children. No Young Seeds-sponsored children have contracted COVID19 throughout the course of 2020.
The President again addressed the nation on 21st September 2020. One this date it was announced that some schools and grade levels including primary seven, senior four, and university finalists, would be eligible to begin returning to school beginning October 15th 2020.
At this stage this decision will impact only one child sponsored by Young Seeds Foundation Tasmania who will return to school on this date. Our other students await further instruction and direction from the President.
Young Seeds in-country coordinators continue to maintain contact with the YSF committee and guide us as to the needs and future direction for our sponsored children.
